Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit organization that does research into and gives advice on contraception, family planning, and reproductive problems. They allow the uninsured and low-income people access to reproductive healthcare and contraceptives. They state “With or without insurance, you can always come to us for your health care”.
MYTHS DEBUNKED:
"Planned Parenthood uses federal money to pay for abortions”:
It is argued that Planned Parenthood uses federal money to pay for abortations. Planned Parenthood does use a federal grant program called Title X, this is to allow low-income and uninsured people access to contraceptives and reproductive health care. The Title X grant also is designed to help reduce costs, not fully cover them. So, the federal money is being used to help reduce the costs of sexual healthcare needs, not pay for abortions.
“90% of what Planned Parenthood does is provide abortations”:
Planned Parenthood stated that only 3-4% of the care they provide is abortations. Planned Parenthood offers more care than just abortions such as screenings, contraceptives, testing, and more.
"Defunding Planned Parenthood will reduce abortations":
About 5 million men and women use planned parenthood services. Defunding Planned Parenthood will reduce the number of contraceptives being provided, which will result in more unsafe abortions.
